The Things I Cannot Understand In Life

In life there’s things I will not understand, not now, not tomorrow, maybe never. So how do I deal with that? What purpose will they serve me? That’s one of the burning questions of life – why do certain things happen and for what cause? Both good things and bad things.

First I want to shed some light on the bad things that happen, and for no apparent reason – the pain and suffering we experience for no personal gain. There’s things that happen to us in life that hurt and we just can’t fully explain them. It might be a heart break that you never saw coming, the unexpected death of a loved one early in life or a similar difficult situation.

So what can come out of these? What I try my best to hang onto, although confused sometimes, is my faith – it grounds me. I place my faith in God, you might place it in something else, like fate or destiny. But, whatever it is make sure you’re certain of it, and make sure it’s something.

Faith helps us to see through the things we cannot understand and allows us to grasp life’s meaning from the things that we can. In my case, I think God want us to trust that the work he is doing is beyond the realms of this world and often we will not understand it, but we must persevere and trust him despite the chaos sometimes. There are fruits that the world can offer us if we take charge of the things in our power. If we can give lovingly, be humble and show compassion to others, we get gifted with the fruits of love and fulfilment – whilst there are things we cannot control, there are so many that we can – that’s where God wants our focus to be – on those few things that we can control.

It terms of good things that happen unexpectedly – that’s a little thing called serendipity or grace. When events or circumstances happen by chance and produce a favourable or beneficial outcome. These things are special, and often we feel unworthy of them. Maybe we haven’t worked hard to deserve this blessing, but we have it anyway. How do we handle such a thing?

I reckon we share it with others. We’ve been given something so powerful, but we must use it for good. Anything earned or won should be shared. The truth is, whether we’re responding to a favourable outcome or a negative outcome which we do not understand we should still be working towards grasping the same fruits – focusing our energy on the things that matter – love, compassion and a humble spirit.

When I think about situations, good or bad I know and trust that God has a plan for me far greater than I know and it is these times of confusion that actually help me to be aware that he is working. “When I am weak, I am strong”. When I can’t seem to understand my direction, I am moving in the best direction possible because I am outside my comfort zone and God is leading the way.

So when you can’t understand things in life, take a step back and place faith in what gives you meaning. Trust that there is a greater purpose at work and that you are part of a bigger plan.

Always,

  1. Just flow with life, be like water. Good and bad comes and goes, nothing is forever. If I accept the good, i have to equally accept the bad too.And Everything happens for a reason, which may not be apparent right then but somewhere down the lane we know why something happened the way it did.
