All Problems Have Solutions
There are solutions that exist to all the problems that surround our life and sometimes we just need to think outside the box and look at these problems from a new perspective.
So what sort of creative things can we do that will work to solve recurring issues in our lives? Things like combining tasks so that they ‘kill two birds with one stone’ so to speak. Maybe you don’t get to spend much social time with your friends anymore because of your busy schedule of work, study, exercise and family time. But, what if we could open our time up by setting up a sports team with our friends. We would still be getting our exercise, but with the bonus of social time with our friends too.
Creativity isn’t bound by anything, except the limits we place on ourselves. This next idea is an example of how being creative in one sense can be completely different from another. We’ve just realised how we can be creative with our time management, but we can be creative with anything – like even drawing our problems on a page and linking them to their immediate causes so we can somehow identify a root cause – and there is no right or wrong way to do this.
The solution might come out of that – and if it doesn’t you persevere and you try something even more creative like writing a short story about your problems and seeing if that generates a solution. See where I am going with this? YOU CAN TRY ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING THAT COMES TO YOUR MIND THAT MIGHT WORK. Run with it and have a go, don’t be afraid that it won’t work because it will benefit you in the long run either way.
The next is a shift in perspective. How do we perceive the problem now? Do we feel we have power over the outcome or is it something that seems out of our control? When we look at a situation from a different perspective we often identify answers that were there all along but we couldn’t see them because we had some sort of tunnel vision.
Try things like putting yourself in the shoes of others involved in the problem. What are they thinking? Do you think they feel powerless or lacking control too? Is there something that they could want FROM YOU? Are you potentially causing them some sort of issue too?
Try to look within and see if there is anything you can change about yourself. Begin to treat others the way that you would like to be treated. This is a scary thing in the beginning because it makes us feel vulnerable – but it is the strongest people that can walk the fine line between vulnerability and strength. Strength to see that beyond this offering of vulnerability to others there is potential to make all involved stronger and better people and not just give power to one who will abuse it.
Just like being creative there is a million and one perspectives you can take. We have already discussed taking others views, but we can also view negative outcomes as learning lessons and grow from them and we can also see winning as the receiving of power which we must use for the better of others.
We all have problems in life and sometimes the solutions seem to escape us. If you’re reading this you’re already on the right track – you’re trying to solve your problems to make better problems in the future. You’re not waiting around for your problems to solve themselves because they will consume you and will compound into even worse problems. Well done!
All problems have solutions. Be creative and open up your perspective.
