The Doubt to Fuel the Fire

When things are going well and you sense yourself gaining some positive momentum, there will always be those doubts that fill your mind. It’s just a given, you’ll be confronted with past mistakes, question your own self worth and worry about what others think from time-to-time. These thoughts will resurface whether we want them to or not.

When things are going well and you sense yourself gaining some positive momentum, there will always be those doubts that fill your mind.

What’s important is that we recognise these thoughts for what they are – merely illusions made up in our mind that get us to compare what we’re achieving with what others achieving. If we invest too much time in this comparison state it can be self-defeating.

This comparison is not just limited to other people, it can be a comparison to a past relationship or a comparison to a utopian imagination. When you’re confronted with these feelings, it almost feels as if there is nothing you can do about them, but there is one simple thing, and if you get this right it will continue to serve you each time you confront these challenges.

Simply, stick to your plan, the one that has enabled you to achieve your positive momentum in the first place.

What is it? Simply, stick to your plan, the one that has enabled you to achieve your positive momentum in the first place. Continue moving on despite the feelings you may be having. Know that these feelings are present and push on through. I promise you that each time you push on through the stronger you become, the more resistant to outside negative influences you become. It takes a bit of courage, but as you continue to fight this battle in your mind over time it fuels your ambition.

The longer you strive towards a goal and the more obstacles you confront on the way to your goals, the harder it is for you to give up on them.

The longer you strive towards a goal and the more obstacles you confront on the way to your goals, the harder it is for you to give up on them. Let me put it this way, the more you have invested in something (money or time etc) the harder it is for you to give up. The longer you have spent for example, writing a book through all challenging seasons the more driven you are to continue writing that book. And, when you finish that book, doubts may fuel you again to write another one, just ensure that your focus doesn’t remain on the doubt itself, but on your process, the one that continues to keep you moving in a positive direction.

Doubt can and will fuel your fire.

Always,
