A Little Bit on Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the most wonderful actions we can express through our daily lives. It signifies that we are content with where we are and what we have. When we are grateful, we are not reliant on some external influence to change before we can achieve our goals, we are filled with the realisation that the tools we have at hand right now are enough to achieve success. It is only excuses that will cause us to deviate from a successful path.

Gratitude is freedom – freedom from worrying about the things in life that we do not have, and freedom to focus more intently on the things that we already do. God asks that we do not worry about tomorrow, for it has not yet come – he wants us to focus on the present day, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:34 (NIV)

The simple things in our day to day lives are what we can focus on, like making sure we continue to thank others for their offers of support, as well as ensuring that we look out for those that may need a helping hand. We can think of generosity as something that stems from gratitude. When we are satisfied with what we already have and not yearning to inherit or attain more material possessions, it frees us up to give to others without fear or selfishness.

Gratitude is a wonderful action, that when exercised well, can transform your life.

Gratitude is a wonderful action, that when exercised well, can transform your life. It provides you with the building blocks to start working towards your goal right now from where you are, rather than waiting for some ‘perfect scenario’ to fall into your hands that will never truly happen. Be grateful for your friends and family, the food that you eat, your comfortable living environment, and your opportunities at work. Often opportunities are disguised as extra effort, so they only come to those that are willing continually expand (before they are aware of what opportunity might come).

Exercise gratitude, share love and be generous without fear, and watch your life slowly transform.

Always,

  1. I like reminding myself to be grateful when I’m on a particularly negative rant. Not as a way to discount or invalidate but it does help me appreciate what I do have and gain some perspective. Nice post. 🙂

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Em, always a pleasure to hear! Yes that’s exactly right, it’s important to firstly identify your negative emotions and accept them as they are. And yes, gratitude is a great tool, especially when we express our gratitude for those around us that love us, it lifts them up to! Happy Reading! 🙂
